Read On For An Overview About Ibiza

As many holidaymakers know Ibiza is part of the Balearic Islands and is the most extreme in landscape and coastline. The Greeks used to call Ibiza and Formentera, the Islands of Pine Trees. The landscape is harsh and rocky and has little rainfall throughout the year. Like other Spanish islands the most commonly grown crops are olives, figs and almonds which are exported around the world. Surprisingly, unknown to many tourists, Ibiza is still half covered with thick woods which has been untouched by commercialism.

A diverse coastline is combined with many sandy beaches ideal for sunbathing. Many have been developed into tourist resorts having plenty of amenities and facilities to enjoy. There are a few out of the way beaches however during the summer months and even these sometimes become a little crowded.

Ibiza’s beaches and laid back atmosphere first became known in the flower power era of the 60s, it’s quite hard to believe that in 1956 the island only had twelve cars! For today’s youngsters Ibiza acts like a magnet to the hip and fashionable, it’s world-renowned for its nightclubs and discos as well as its lively bar scene. It does offer holidaymakers another side to its charm, it has magnificent architectural buildings including modern buildings which have been built to attract tourism and rich sea life too.

If you’re after a sun-drenched vacation then Ibiza is definitely for you, its beautiful beaches are very clean and the Mediterranean is safe to swim in, ideal for families.

Enjoying Activities In Ibiza

Tourists choose to holiday in Ibiza during the summer or winter months, its all year round wonderful warm climate makes a great get away when back at home is cold and miserable. In February Ibiza comes alive to the sights and sounds of one huge carnival while in May to October makes the perfect time to try out water sports; the sea is calm and warm while the weather is hot and sunny. Try jet skiing, paragliding, scuba diving and enjoy a banana boat or ring ride with the kids.

At the beginning of the tourist season all of the island’s businesses are freshly painted and a magnificent mediaeval festival is held in Ibiza Town. It’s worth taking your camera to capture this spectacle, as well as enjoying the nightclubs and fantastic parties where the music scene never ends.

As the summer sun cools down a little and autumn approaches then hire a bicycle and explore the island. They are very cheap to rent and if you’ve never tried a three-wheeled tandem you don’t know what you’re missing. Why not try out one of the riding stables, there are horse riding courses for beginners and also for the more advanced.

The Gorgeous Weather In Ibiza

The summer season really begins and starts to warm up at the beginning of May, Ibiza has gorgeous clear sunny days and temperatures hitting the mid-twenties Fahrenheit. This attracts visitors by their thousands who lap up the sunshine and swim in the refreshing Med to cool off. It’s a safe island for families with children, couples looking for romance and single people wishing to make new friends.

During June until September there’s very little rainfall, in fact August and September see temperatures rising over thirty degrees. This brings out sun worshippers in their droves, lying on the beaches relaxing, topping up their tans and having fun. If you are travelling to Ibiza during the summer then you don’t need to pack much in the way of clothing, just beachwear, tops and shorts along with loose fitting evening wear.

Once October arrives the temperature begins to cool somewhat with a few rainy days here and there. It’s still around 17 degrees, warm enough to catch those rays and escape colder climates. Winter sunshine can of course bring a refreshing change to the hot sun for tourists and locals alike, take a cool walk along the beach and watch the calm sea.
